Did you catch the American Idol finals in 2015 between Taylor Hicks and Catherine What’s Her Name? Who won? The one with the best voice? Or the one with the most personality?
So numerous entrepreneurs waste their time and money boasting about being the finest. “We offer the best doohickeys …” “We offer the finest client service …” ‘
It’s dopey to extol being the very best! Why? ‘Cause
1. Everybody states it.
2. It’s probably not real.
3. We do not think you anyway
Don’t worry about it, ’cause
4. We’re not always looking for the best.
Take a look at vocalists. The most famous. The most loved. Are they the very best? Rod Stewart’s what, 92? And still churning out hit albums! “Do You Think I’m Sexy?” No Rod. I do not. When the tune came out and certainly not now, not 30 years back. However in some way a geriatric Rod got to wiggle his assets on American Idol along with Taylor Hicks! Meanwhile poor Catherine is doing a lame cameos on Ugly Betty.
The “It” Factor
In showbiz, there’s an expression “You’ve got ‘it’.” What’s “it”?
The factor they call it “it” is since it’s difficult to put it into words. It’s got something to do with charisma, magnetism, the power to hold an audience and attract. Frankly, Rod Stewart never ever did it for me, however Elvis absolutely had “it”.
Gain Access To Your Inner Elvis
I just saw a movie about Elvis’ life. Why are people so captivated by Elvis? Why are they still informing me “Tsufit, I simply saw Elvis at a convenience store!” when he passed away before Britney Spears was born? Why? Due to the fact that a personality that huge never passes away.
Why was the person such a star? Was it his appearance, his personality, his voice, his music? It’s probably all of those things– together with this magical thing called “it”, however even with Elvis, it took him a while to discover his inner “it”.
In the film, a docu-drama (or shlock-u-drama), Elvis strolls into Sun Records, a small Memphis recording studio, to sing for Sam Phillips. Elvis sings like Bill Monroe; he sings like Bing Crosby; he sings like the other day’s news. Just another vocalist. A dime a lots.
It wasn’t a quickie, even for Elvis, to discover his initial voice. However he kept at it and Phillips kept pushing him. Ultimately he did discover it. And the rest is history!
What’s this got to do with business owners? Whatever!
You got ta find your original voice. You got ta access your Inner Elvis!
Do that and see your star shine.
